Paul Indigo

Paul works mainly as a corporate photographer. His work is featured in brochures, magazines, annual reports, marketing materials and adverts. The nature of the work means he has to be extremely versatile, photographing portraits, nature, landscapes, architecture and still lives. He works mostly on location and regularly uses a fully portable studio.

Paul is respected for his ability to work quickly and efficiently. He always manages to get the image clients want, no matter how tough the conditions. He is creative and consistent. Paul has a knack for putting people at ease with his sense of humour and enthusiasm.

Paul uses digital Canon professional cameras. When large files are required he uses Hasselblad.

Clients include central government departments, government agencies, local authorities and private sector companies. He also takes on art and documentary projects. Lately he is focusing more on portraiture and this is an area that he is keen to expand.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Anthropology from Rhodes University. In 1987 and 1988 he studied photography under the world renowned South African photographer Obie Oberholzer. After working as a photojournalist during the height of the troubles before the end of apartheid, he left South Africa for Belgium where he past the state exam for a Diploma in Commercial Photography.

Together with wife and fellow professional photographer, Magda, he opened a studio in Belgium, taking on portraiture, events, weddings, editorial for magazines and advertising photography.

The next move was to England. He is now based together with Magda in Yorkshire where they take on both local and international commissions. Paul has had numerous exhibitions and sold work to private collectors in England, Belgium, Germany, South Africa, Japan and the USA.

Paul also writes a well loved and much read blog sharing his views on photography. He says, “I am a passionate photographer with an unquenchable thirst for learning new things. Every day brings new opportunities and exciting choices.
